September 18 - 28, 2022
Warm sun bathing rolling hills dotted with cypress and olive trees. Picturesque, centuries-old villages rising from the landscape. Thermal baths. Delicious local food lovingly prepared.
We gather in the late afternoon at our hotel on the banks of the river Arno. We will enjoy a delicious Florentine dinner at a local restaurant with our guide for the next three days, art historian and Florence resident Viola Duse.
We will bid adieu to Florence in the morning and travel south to UNESCO World Heritage Site and hill town San Gimignano. You will have free time to wander around and have lunch on your own before we head to our home for the next 5 days, the wonderful farmstead. called Spannocchia.
We will settle in and enjoy a tour of the property in the afternoon.
Our cooking class with resident cook Loredana begins at 9 AM with a tour through the vegetable gardens. Loredana was born on the farm and grew up as one of its tenant farming families. We will be preparing a three-course Tuscan meal utilising food products from the estate.
You will spend our last day here in just the way you want: hiking, biking, reading, staring off into space, really soaking in the Tuscan countryside.
We will sadly bid arrivederci to Spannocchia and head to... ?
We will sadly say goodbye to Tuscany and journey home from Florence or on to another place.
